Basics

Explorer Scouts are boys and girls, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

A group of Explorer Scouts is called a Unit.

Not all Units meet every week, partly due to activities, holidays, exams and the other commitments that crop up in a teenager's life, and also because Explorers tend to get out and about at weekends more often than other sections.

Activities

Explorer Scouts often get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in their District, not just their own Unit, so can take part in an even wider spectrum of activities.

There is also a range of ambitious badges and awards, through which Explorers can demonstrate their proficiencies and expand their interests.

There are two Explorer Units plus the Young Leaders Unit in East Herts District:

Agilis who meet on a Monday evening at 1st Broxbourne HQ

Young Leaders who meet on the first Tuesday in every month at 5th Hoddesdon HQ

Arcturus are a specialist Unit who generally meet at Tolmers Activity Centre in Cuffley once or twice a month.  To join as Explorers, members have to be either an Explorer at Agilis or a Young Leader (or both)

To join Arcturus, or anyone too old for Explorers (anyone over 18) can apply via the link below and all under 18s will be forwarded to Arcturus
